masoret summer camp 14-17 y.o.

july 20-29, 2025 Zakarpattia, Ukraine

interactive workshops, thematic discussions, cultural projects, and experiential learning helped campers to experience issues of heritage, responsibility, and belonging alongside principles of equality, respect, inclusivity, and active dialogue. the camp inspired critical thinking, strengthened Jewish identity, and encouraged participants to connect universal values with their own personal journeys.

“We organized a role-play where participants acted as citizens, journalists, and politicians in a democratic debate. The exercise quickly became intense, with passionate arguments and even conflicts. At one point, two groups disagreed so strongly that we had to pause and remind everyone about respectful dialogue. Interestingly, this became the key learning point: democracy is not easy, but it only works if all voices are heard. The participants left with a clearer understanding that democracy is fragile and requires active participation. Many said afterwards that they never thought about their role in civic life before, but now they felt more responsible.”
