One-day workshop for counsellors in Ukraine organized by FAZS
january 23, 2026 Zakarpattia, Ukraine
Participants explored how informal education differs from formal structures and reflected on its significance in the contemporary Jewish context, discussing key principles, renowned informal educators, and their role in the contemporary understanding of the informal educational process, including aspects such as freedom of choice, tolerance, equal opportunities, etc. Participants took part in practical workshops that demonstrated how art, storytelling, and creative methods can contribute to the development of identity, emotional connection, and active participation. They explored how creativity and art can provide answers to global questions about important human values and principles.
βThe discussion of key values, educational frameworks, and the ideas of influential educators helped me better understand the philosophical foundation of our work. I especially appreciated how we connected classic educational theories with our own main principles and practical experience. It gave me a clearer structure for explaining what we do as informal educators and why it matters. I left the session with a stronger sense of professional identity and a deeper understanding of the values that guide my educational practice.β
