zimnick 2026 camp: Training the Trainers in Tbilisi

february 12-16, 2026 tbilisi, georgia

From February 12–16, 2026, the ELITE project hosted the ZIMNICK Seminar in Tbilisi, Georgia, bringing together 123 camp counsellors and staff for an intensive professional exchange.

The seminar moved beyond theory, using an experiential "participant-centered" model. By living through the educational formats themselves, counsellors gained fresh perspectives on leadership, cultural diversity, and group dynamics.

A key highlight was the contribution from our partners at Samtskhe-Javakheti State University (SJSU). Professors Maka Beridze and Irma Kurdadze led a critical session on the essence of multicultural societies, bridging academic research with grassroots practice.

The program seamlessly integrated the core pillars of the ELITE project:

  • Cultural Diversity & Leadership: Through the study of Jewish texts and historical case studies, participants explored the intersection of personal choice, responsibility, and community leadership.

  • Inclusive Education: A dedicated focus on "Safe Spaces" established a framework for respectful dialogue.

  • Collaborative Formats: Using Limmud sessions, Open Space technology, and creative group projects, the seminar fostered a horizontal exchange of practical tools for group dynamics and teens engagement.
